just on a spy mission mom...thats all

So no one ever said Motherhood was easy right?
and I never would ever say I am perfect....
by far...never...

This morning I had an experience i wish upon no one.
as said in a couple past post...Rileys sleep habits, or lack of sleep habits
have been getting the best of me.

today, Aiden and Kaylee decided to capitalize on their oh so exhausted
...almost snoring...passed out mommy...
who was shaken awake by a front door slamming shut
and two kids running to their rooms and hiding.
One quick second later, the door bell rings, followed by a pounding on the backdoor.
It is the Sheriffs.
((heart is pounding, very sleepy mom is now very scared and confused))

My children...bless their adventuress hearts...
they got themselves dressed, in their finest "SPY" clothes...
and they went out on a big mission...
((i am still not clear what the goals for the mission were))
but they were set...
they went out the backyard, opened the gate, and down the big hill...
around the corners, down the streets, and exited our neighborhood.
Hung a right, and marched down the very busy, 40mph road.

At this point, a fellow concerned mother in her van,
thank you thank you thank you...
pulled over and called 911.
She followed them till the sheriffs arrived, and then they were followed to their doorstep.

I have been hysterical all morning long. tears, tears, sniffles, sobs...
Thinking of all the what ifs.
My children are safely at home,
and safely in their rooms awaiting their punishments, and talkin tos by their dad.
I am overwhelmed with this one.
How could i have let something like this happen under my care?
Never would i say i am a perfect mom, but never would i neglect my children, and allow something to happen to them.
I contemplated if this was something to share on my blog.
I have earned the worst mother of the week award.
but life is learning, and growing, and making things work the right way.
My eyes are wide open now, and my mornings, tired or not, have got to change.
I am still very blurred by this, and don't have much cleaver to say at all.
My heart is crushed, i feel horrible...
And i still need to come up with a punishment suitable for this "spy mission"...

still adjusting to having 3 kids,
still adjusting to less, and less sleep.
one step at a time...

Honestly Kristen buy those alarm things you can put on the doors they just stick on and you put them high enough to where the kids cant reach em and they go off if they open the door. The noise will definitely wake you trust me...Right after I had Aryanna...I was napping with the kids in bed and apparently Angelika was awake watching tv and someone came to te door and knocked and she just opened it...I totally know what you mean about all the what ifs...hugs to you!! things happen for a reason. dont beat yourself up about it...trust me you wont sleep that deep ever again!!

I'm so glad it turned out o.k.! Try not to think about the what ifs...they're safe and that's all that matters!

Oh my gosh!! I can't believe they did that! I would NEVER have thought that my kids would do that. You'd just never think that, you know?

Do not beat yourself up. It was brave of you to share. And things happen. It doesn't make you a bad mom at all. I think that every single parent can empathize. It is a learning experience.

Alarms are expensive. We got top locks. Even if kids try to get them open {ie--chair, etc} they kind of slide down in the opening, so it's hard for them to open. And they're cheap! :)
